Why You Don’t Need As Much As You Think You Need
In the past month, I’ve gotten more “downloads” or guidance from my Higher consciousness than I have in probably the past year.
I was praying more than ever, doing my EFT tapping, and overall, just making good decisions that helped me stay open to guidance and clarity.
In being able to pinpoint who it was I help, how I help them, and the “why,” I was able to lock in the third circle of my ikigai – “what the world needs.”
Onto the fourth circle!
Now, I mentioned in an earlier edition of ATC that I had found a good winning funnel.
I had planned to re-erect that funnel which I did a few weeks ago.
I finally locked in all my funnels which is a HUGE step forward, because one of the reasons I was stuck in phase 1 of my coaching business roll-out strategy (which I'm giving in my next edition, so be sure to subscribe) was that my sales funnels weren’t optimized because my tech stack…
Well…it sucked.
This leads me to the focus of today’s edition of Answer the Call:
the game-changing platform I wish I had switched to sooner.
I grew up in an environment where the scarcity mentality around money was very real.
In a nutshell, this is where your main mindset about money is “there’s not enough.”
So you overwork yourself trying to get it, only to obsessively squander and save it.
This will have you bocking at expensive (but necessary!) solutions, which can stunt your growth and keep your wheels spinning.
I’ve been working through this using EFT tapping which helped IMMENSELY and I share EFT tapping videos in the Powered by Purpose community.
If you’re looking to release negative energy and beliefs around money, love…anything…then I HIGHLY recommend getting acquainted with EFT tapping.
Okay, so working through my scarcity mentality around money – this will be important later on.
In the meantime, I was spinning my wheels building funnels with my existing tech stack.
For the non-marketing folks in the house, your “funnel” is the entire journey that someone takes from point A to point B.
Point A is being introduced to you, and point B is buying from you.
Your funnel will have a way for someone to opt in, an automated sales process, an offer they can’t refuse, and of course the checkout experience.
Your “tech stack” is the tools and platforms you use to not only support this process but to overall run your business.
For the last 10 years that I’ve been in e-commerce marketing, I can tell you that there is no one-size-fits-all solution.
Every funnel and tech stack varies greatly depending on what you sell and who you sell it to.
When I first quit my job and started coaching, I THOUGHT I knew what a winning tech stack was from my days in marketing.
Boy, was I wrong.
I dove head first and invested in all the tools I thought I needed.
When I first started out, I invested in all these online tools and platforms I thought I would need.
If starting my business were a camping trip, I went to REI and bought the most expensive option of every item.
Massive mistake.
Because not only did I not need half of them, but without knowing the who, what, and how, I wasn’t even at a place to use them yet.
As such, my tech stack was clunky and counter-intuitive.
It was:
Social media tools: ManyChat, Stan Store
eCommerce platform: Squarespace, Stan Store
Email: MailChimp
Automations: Zapier
Scheduling: Paid Calendly
Conferencing: Zoom
There are more.
The first passive sale I made from my funnel used 3 tools:
ManyChat, Squarespace, Stan Store
But I wanted to host a community, too, which I couldn’t do on any tool.
Long story short, I was using 1 tool for each phase in the funnel leaning heavily on integrations which was a real pain in the ass, and made a seriously clunky and janky funnel that I knew would leave opportunity on the table.
I had heard many things about Kajabi and knew a ton of creators/coaches used it.
My scarcity mentality had me running from the $159 per month price tags, even though I was spending nearly that on the tools I was using.
Girl, make it make sense.
After spinning my wheels for so long trying to create an optimized funnel using the tools I had at my disposal, enough was enough.
I knew I had to bite the bullet and invest in Kajabi, which helped me shut down like 4 other tools.
BTW, this is not a Kajabi plug.
There’s a lot of great tools out there.
The 2 lessons here are:
You need WAY less than you think you need starting. Just START and assess what your needs are as they start to show early indicators.
INVEST in the right tools. Look past sticker shock and see it as an investment.
But it was a game-changer for a few reasons.
The timing of switching Kajabi was perfect because I had JUST discovered the who, what, and how of my coaching business.
I also had a new mindset about branding and overall, just not wasting time on sh*t that wasn’t moving the needle,
So group those lessons I learned with a new minimalist mindset, a streamlined new tech stack, and a winning content strategy,
and I feel like I’ve finally flipped my storefront from “closed” to “open” and will now keep creating quality content until the people who need me, find me.
Which, I’m assuming if you’re reading this, might be you.
