Reasons You Haven’t Manifested Financial Flow for Your Spirit-Led Business

This entry → reasons why you probably haven’t made any money yet, a channeled message about the secret to helping money take root, and a very vulnerable story about my own struggle with money while pursuing my calling.

Marketing(ish) Message:

You’ve been working diligently on your strategy, so where’s the money?

My first go quitting my job to become a spiritual coach, I spent an entire year trying to get that business off the ground.

When it didn’t, I took a job as a copywriter at an agency to save use from complete financial ruin.

I look back at why it never went anywhere and identified several reasons why it never took off, and I’d like to save you from that frustration and headache if you’re getting discouraged like I was.

I’m going to break this up into 3 sections - spiritual, personal & business - because the obstruction(s) could be hiding in one these three areas.

Business Reasons Why It Hasn’t Taken Off

Let’s jump right in with our socks on…

1. No clear path from content to purchase. Content creates attention, but attention only turns into money if each piece leads somewhere specific. If someone lands on your profile and sees several offers at once, most will leave without choosing. Give each channel one job and one next step.

2. No email list or follow-up system. Most people don’t buy on first contact. Social platforms are rented attention, and an email sequence is where trust builds and offers get made. Without one, you’re relying on cold buyers.

3. Too many offers, or offers that aren’t differentiated. A wide lineup makes it hard for a buyer to see what you’re for, and a confused buyer doesn’t buy. One flagship offer that everything else feeds into usually converts better.

4. An audience that is hard to sell to. If your audience is mostly other people building similar businesses, they tend to be budget-conscious and sold to constantly. You need a very specific promise tied to a concrete result, and low-priced products need high volume to pay off.

5. Free content that doesn’t create demand for the paid version. People pay when they’ve already gotten value for free and want more or want it done for them. If your free content is generic, or if nothing connects it to your paid offer, there’s no reason to upgrade.

6. Services without proof or a clear package. Buyers hire on specifics: a defined deliverable, a price, a result, and a testimonial or case study. Without those, a service is hard to say yes to, even from someone clearly skilled.

7. Platforms that are slow or indirect. Some channels take 6-12 months of consistent effort to compound, and others build community but send very few clicks. Engagement and followers can grow for a long time before sales follow.

8. Measuring the wrong things. Impressions and follower counts don’t show where the leak is. Track clicks to your offer, landing page visits, email sign-ups, and checkout conversion. The stage with the sharpest drop-off is your real problem.

Personal Reasons Why It Hasn’t Taken Off

Looking back, there were several personal reasons why the business didn’t take off. We went through moves and temporary living situations, we had spotty internet, I spent wayyyy too much time creating vs. selling…there was A LOT so let me lay these out for you in case you have one of the following looming over you.

Environment

  1. No dedicated workspace. Working from wherever you land (couch, bed, a cramped table) makes it harder to switch into focused work mode and easier to get pulled into other things.

  2. Frequent interruptions. If people, pets, noise, or household needs break your focus often, deep work like writing, building offers, or sales conversations gets squeezed out in favor of easy tasks.

  3. Unreliable setup. Spotty internet, a poor device, or limited power can quietly make you avoid the tasks that need them.

  4. Surroundings that don’t match your goals. If no one in your circle runs a business or takes it seriously, you may lack feedback, accountability, and a sense of what’s normal.

Routine

  1. No protected work hours. Business time that gets scheduled “when I can” usually loses to everything else.

  2. Creating more than selling. Many people spend almost all their time making content and products and very little on outreach, follow-up, and asking for the sale. Making things feels productive and safe, but revenue comes from selling.

  3. Working at low-energy times. If your hardest tasks land when you’re tired, they get postponed or done poorly.

  4. No weekly review. Without regularly checking what’s working, you can repeat the same effort for months without adjusting.

Habits and mindset

  1. Perfectionism and over-polishing. Redesigning, rewriting, and tweaking can feel like progress while delaying launch.

  2. Constant new ideas. Starting a new product, platform, or project before the last one has had a fair run keeps you permanently at the beginning.

  3. Avoiding direct selling. If asking for money feels uncomfortable, you may stay in “sharing” mode, posting value but never making a clear offer.

  4. Comparison and scrolling. Time on social platforms can slide from research into consumption, and comparing yourself with others can drain motivation.

  5. Waiting to feel ready. Confidence usually comes after action, not before it.

  6. Undervaluing your work. Low prices, free help, or apologetic wording often signal low confidence to buyers.

  7. Inconsistent follow-through. Posting consistently is a strength, but if other areas, such as follow-up emails, sales conversations, and finishing offers, are sporadic, those gaps cost the most.

  8. Treating the business as a hobby. Without income goals, deadlines, or numbers you track, it’s easy for the business to stay at “something I’m working on.”

Spiritual Reasons Why It Hasn’t Taken Off

Pressure and energy

  1. Pressure to succeed. Treating the business as something that must pay off creates urgency and tension, which many frameworks describe as pushing abundance away rather than inviting it.

  2. Attachment to the outcome. Checking stats, sales, and followers constantly keeps your attention on lack instead of on the work itself.

  3. Forcing instead of flowing. Pushing through tasks that feel heavy, rather than following what feels aligned, can lead to burnout and work that lacks spark.

  4. Operating from scarcity. Making decisions out of fear of not having enough can show up as desperation in your messaging, which buyers often sense.

Subconscious blocks and beliefs

  1. Money beliefs. Inherited ideas like “money is hard to earn,” “wealthy people are greedy,” or “spiritual people shouldn’t charge much” can quietly sabotage pricing, selling, and receiving.

  2. Unworthiness. A sense that you haven’t earned success yet can make you undercharge, give away too much, or hold back from making clear offers.

  3. Fear of visibility. Being seen, judged, or criticized can lead to hiding behind content while avoiding the moments that would actually bring clients.

  4. Fear of success. Success brings change: more attention, higher expectations, shifts in relationships. Part of you may resist those consequences.

  5. Receiving difficulty. If accepting compliments, help, or payment feels uncomfortable, it can limit how much comes in.

  6. Old stories about your calling. Beliefs like “this has to be hard” or “I have to prove myself first” can keep you stuck in proving mode.

Alignment and purpose

  1. Mixed intentions. If part of you is doing this for the calling and part for escape or approval, the energy behind it can feel split.

  2. Offers that aren’t fully aligned. Creating what you think will sell, rather than what you feel called to share, can leave work feeling flat, even if it’s technically well done.

  3. Unclear vision. Without a clear sense of who you serve and what change you bring, your effort can scatter.

  4. Resisting guidance. Receiving inner direction but not acting on it, out of doubt or fear, can create stagnation.

  5. Impatience with timing. Expecting results on your own schedule can lead to discouragement or constant changes of direction. Many traditions describe growth as seasonal, with quiet periods before visible results.

Self-relationship

  1. Self-criticism. A harsh inner voice about your progress drains the confidence needed to put yourself out there.

  2. Neglecting rest and joy. An overworked or depleted state can dull intuition and creativity.

  3. Unprocessed emotions. Grief, resentment, or stress from other areas of life can spill into your business and quietly weigh it down.

  4. Comparison. Measuring your path against others pulls you away from your own timing and style.

In summary…

There are a lot of factors that effects our ability to open the channels and let the money trickle in. It’s not always related to your marketing strategy, your lead magnet, etc.

Sometimes the call is coming from inside the house…and we have to answer it or it’ll just keep ringing and ringing.

Channeled Message:

One of the largest deterrents of financial success in your business is not allowing money to take root.

Constantly chasing new, shiny creative ideas means abandoning the seed of abundance before it can sprout.

Money responds to commitment and clarity, not scattered attention. Choose the offer or goal that feels most like your call and tend it consistently, even through the quiet middle.

If you get a new idea that you're excited about, parking the idea in an "idea bank" will stimulate you in

in the same way that trying to build a whole new exciting thing RIGHT NOW will. Write it down for later, then regain focus on what you're nurturing in the present.

Simply giving the idea a place to go outside of your head is enough.

Imagine your money seeds as literal plants. Give them care and attention. Water it with faith. Shower it with the sunlight of intention.

It will sprout and fruit in due time, but not if you keep planting new seeds and abandoning the ones you've already planted.

Mik's Message:

There’s no need to be ashamed or embarrassed or guilty if you haven’t made a dime in your spirit-led business yet.

Perhaps this will make you feel better…

I had a grand awakening that led me to quit my very stable and high-paying job to become a spiritual coach. I tried for a year to get clients and get the business off the ground, but fell into a lot of traps and it never took of..

So, I went back into corporate marketing and took a copywriting job to pay the bills.

I did this for about 2 years until I was abruptly fired because they dissolved the department.

I applied to jobs I was over-qualified for and never got any calls back. So, I decided enough was enough, and I would finally answer my true call.

The only difference between these 2 scenarios is that the first one was within my realm of control, and the second one wasn’t.

I was given a second chance! And now that I knew what my mistakes were the first time, I made a vow I wouldn’t make them again.

But still, I find myself struggling financially.

The simple truth is that it takes time. And sometimes events beyond your control have to take place before it’s your time to shine.

My goal is take everything I learn and share it with you, so that as a fellow lightworker, your journey is a little easier and clearer.

And I know that in due time, and when everything that needs to happen has happened, it’ll happen for you.

So I thank you for being here, for listening, and for being a part of this journey!

There’s many exciting things in store for both of us.

As always, I’m here to help if you need it <3

With warmth & gratitude,

XOXO
Mik

PS – Remember that comparison is the thief of joy, so keep your eyes on your own paper and honor your journey. What’s meant for you will meet you exactly where you are, you don’t have to hurry the journey to get there.

Are you ready to “Answer the Call”?

Mik the Messenger

Hi, I'm Mik, and I'm a Messenger. I have the gift of claircognizance, which is essentially the psychic ability of "clear knowing." I know something is true without a logical explanation or sensory input, and I receive this information via random downloads that I access via what’s called “automatic writing.” For about 13+ years, I squandered this gift on an impressive career in online advertising, writing copy that converted for high-profile clients on social media, in ads, in email marketing, on websites…you name it. But I was helping no one. So I quit corporate America, and leaned fully into using my gift for what it was meant for…serving humanity.

I write about my own journey in real time in my online diary “Answer the Call,” which I also pack with marketing strategies, business growth tips, and of course, divine messages meant for the lightworker reading on the other side.
